Editorial Standards
How we write, correct and moderate.
A travel article is only useful if you can trust it. These are the promises we hold ourselves to.
Independence
We do not sell travel, and nobody pays for a mention or a good review. Our articles avoid naming commercial brands, so that you get the method rather than a recommendation that might be out of date next month. If that ever changes, for example if we publish a clearly marked partnership, we will label it plainly, as UK advertising rules require.
How we check things
We write from our own travels and from research. Practical details such as prices, journey times and rules are checked when we write, and costs are given as rough guides. For entry requirements and safety, official sources always take priority over anything we say.
Updates and corrections
We review our guides every season. The date on an article shows when it first appeared. If you spot a mistake, tell us through the contact form or at [email protected] and we will check it and correct it promptly.
Comments and moderation
Comments are read by a person before they appear. We welcome disagreement and corrections. We decline comments that are abusive, off-topic or promotional, that contain somebody else's personal data, or that may be unlawful. The editors sometimes reply directly below a comment, and those replies are clearly marked.
Photographs
Photographs illustrate the mood and subject of an article. Some are licensed stock images, so they may not show the exact place or the people named in a story.
